Birmingham International Airport has flights within the UK and across Europe, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and North America.

It is easy to get from Birmingham International Airport to Aston University. A free shuttle service runs between Birmingham International airport and the Birmingham International train station. Several trains an hour run from Birmingham International train station directly to New Street Station and take less than 10 minutes.

Alternatively, the airport is approximately 20 minutes away by car or taxi.

Arriving at other UK airports

Aston University’s central location in Birmingham means it is well connected by the coach and rail networks linking various parts of the UK.

For passengers arriving at London Heathrow airport, the simplest means of transport is a coach.



By train

By train

Birmingham New Street Station is the nearest main-line station to Aston University, a short, flat 10-15 minutes walk away through the main shopping areas of the city along Corporation Street. The station has direct lines to most parts of the UK and many local services.

Some regional and national services arrive at Birmingham Snow Hill and Moor Street stations, which are a short ten minute walk from campus. View an interactive map of the route from Snow Hill station to Aston University. Please check your timetable to ensure you know which station you are arriving at.

Don’t forget that if you’re 26 or under, or a full time student, you’re eligible for a Young Person’s Rail Card, which can save you up to a third on train fares.

By coach

Coach services, including motorway services to London, operate from Digbeth coach station, which is a short taxi ride or 20 minutes' walk from the campus through the city centre.

By bus

Because of the central Birmingham location many bus routes pass close to the Aston University campus. To plan your journey, visit the Travel West Midlands website



By car

By car

From whichever direction you are approaching Birmingham, Aston University is best reached from the M6 motorway and A38M (not the M6 Toll, which bypasses the city). The road map (PDF) shows the Birmingham city centre road system around campus.

From M6, Junction 6 (Aston Expressway) – 3 miles

Follow signs to City centre, on the A38(M). After the first exit follow signs for Ring Road and Convention centre. You immediately come to Dartmouth Circus Roundabout. Take the first exit (Dartmouth Middleway, A4540). At the next roundabout, take the third exit on to Jennens Road. Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.

From M5, Junction 3 (Hagley Road) – 9 miles

Follow A456 into Birmingham for approximately 6 miles, through the tunnel at Five Ways, onto Broad Street. Follow signs for A38 (Aston Expressway) onto Great Charles Street Queensway. Proceed under the tunnel at St Chad’s Queensway. Turn left on to Jennens Road (east). At the roundabout take the forth exit on to Jennens road (west). Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.

From M42, Junction 6 (Coventry Road) – 11 miles

Follow A45 City Centre approximately for 7 miles. You will then reach a large traffic roundabout (Bordesley Circus). Follow signs for M6 into Watery Lane Middleway. Continue to follow signs for the M6 through the first traffic island and second traffic island. At the next island, take the first exit on to Jennens Road. Turn left on to Howe Street. The entrance to the Birmingham City Council multi-storey car park is straight ahead.

Please retain your entry tickets on entering Millennium Point Multi Storey Car Park. Payment is via machines located inside the car park building at the end of your visit.

Parking

Parking in Aston University

Please note there is only blue badge parking available on the University campus. We recommend that visitors park at the Millennium Point Multistorey Car Park which is close to the Aston University campus and can be located at B4 7SA.

The Millennium Point car park may become full when busy events are taking place. Information on other city centre car parks can be found at: www.birmingham.gov.uk/citycentrecarparks
