Professor Michael Lebby
(Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA), USA
"Green Photonics"

Michael Lebby joined OIDA as Executive Director in 2005 and became its president and CEO in February, 2006.  Lebby is driving new directions at OIDA in optoelectronics and photonics that include areas such as green photonics, plastic photonics, terabit photonics, display photonics, bio-photonics, and sensing photonics

Professor Nikolay Zheludev (University of Southampton, UK)
"Nanostructured Metamaterials as a Platform for Photonic Devices"

Nikolay Zheludev, PhD, DSc is Professor of Physics at the University of Southampton (UK). He is Deputy Director (Physics) of the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton and coordinates the EPSRC Portfolio Centre on Nanophotonics. He is the Editor-in Chief of Journal of Optics (IOP Publishing).

Professor Colin Webb (Oxford Lasers, UK)
"The Birth of the Laser"

Until his retirement in 2002, Colin Webb was Professor of Laser Physics at the University of Oxford. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and of the Optical Society of America serving as Director-at-Large from 1991-1994. In 1991 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, and in 1997 as the first President of the UK Consortium for Photonics and Optics (UKCPO), a post which he held until 2002. In January 2000 he was awarded an MBE for services to the UK Laser Industry.

Professor Ken Grattan (City University London, UK)
OPD Divisional Prize Winner
“New development for Structural Health Monitoring uisng optical fiber sensors”

Professor Grattan is a Professor of Measurement and Instrumentation and Head of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering at City University. He was awarded the Callendar Medal of the Institute of Measurement and Control and the Honeywell Prize for work published in the Institute’s journal. He is the Deputy Editor of the Journal Measurement Science and Technology and Editor of the IMEKO Journal “Measurement”.
